Want to know what kind of cold email outreach grabs Mark Cuban’s eye? Cuban, who gets between 750 and 1,000 pitch emails per day, says you have to use the “No Waste Rule.”
On LinkedIn, Josh Braun shared a slideshow outlining one of the best cold calls he’s ever received. Yes, it’s not email, but there’s much to learn from good outreach even in other channels.

🚨 Cold Email of the Week 📧
Here’s an example of an effective cold email strategy. The email is smart by design. In the first outreach, the goal is to provide upfront value before asking for anything in return from the prospect. Here’s the email:
The process, as outlined on Sales Hacker, works like this:
Our process is as follows:
- Ask for a quote from the startup founder, exec or business influencer to include in an upcoming article they’d want to weigh in on.
- Publish our blog post utilizing their quote and start promoting it heavily.
- Reach back out to update and thank them for contributing to the post.
- Highlight early success in that email (number of social shares, traffic, any features on publications).
Bottom line: lead with value and you will up your chances of success.
