How to transfer your subscription to another account

You can transfer your paid GMass subscription from one account to another, even if one account is a Gmail account and the other is a G Suite account..

Why would you want to transfer your subscription?

  1. Perhaps you accidentally subscribed the wrong account. Instead of canceling and re-subscribing, you can just transfer the subscription over.
  2. Maybe you misspelled your email address when you subscribed.
  3. Perhaps you entered a non-Google account, like a yahoo.com account or a hotmail.com account as the email address to subscribe.
  4. Maybe Google has deactivated the gmail.com account that you subscribed and so you no longer have access to it.
  5. Perhaps you changed your mind after subscribing, because you realized that a different Gmail account has a better reputation and more sending ability than the account you originally subscribed.
  6. Perhaps you are the leader of a Team Plan for your organization, and you want to transfer the ownership of the Team Plan to someone else, because you are leaving the organization.

How to transfer your GMass subscription

As of November 2020, you can now transfer your GMass paid subscription from one account to another through our web-based dashboard. If, however, the account that currently has the subscription is not a Google account that you can access, then you must use the “old way”.

New way

The account with the current subscription must exist to transfer it through the dashboard. If the account with the current subscription was misspelled or doesn’t exist, then you must use the old way.

Go to your account dashboard and log in if you’re not already logged in. Then click Settings at the top and My Account on the left, and then “Transfer Subscription.”

how to transfer your subscription

If the dashboard doesn’t work for you, you can still transfer your subscription the old way.

Old way

In this example, I’m about to transfer my paid GMass subscription from [email protected] to [email protected]. You can’t tell from the screenshot, but the account I’m logged into is [email protected].
  1. Log into the account that currently has the subscription. If you don’t have access to that Gmail account anymore, then log into the account that you would like to transfer the subscription to.
  2. Launch a new Compose window in Gmail.
  3. Set the To field to [email protected]. Do not hit the Send button.
  4. If you are currently logged into the account that has the subscription, then set the Subject to the Gmail account that you wish to transfer the GMass subscription to.If you don’t have access to the account that has the subscription and are instead logged into the account that you wish to transfer the subscription to, then you need to specify the account that already has the subscription. Set the Subject to “from:[email protected]” (without the quotes). For example, if you accidentally subscribed a hotmail.com or a yahoo.com address, log in to the account that you wish to have the subscription and use this method. Do not click the Send button. You must click the GMass button.

This is how you transfer a subscription when you DON’T have access to the account that currently has the subscription but DO have access to the account you WISH to have the subscription. Here I’m transferring the subscription from [email protected] into the account I’m logged into, [email protected].
  5. Hit the main GMass button. Do not hit the Send button. Your subscription will be immediately transferred.

Important notes about transferring a subscription

  1. You can only transfer a subscription from an account with an active subscription to an account that is currently free. So if the account you’re trying to transfer the subscription to is already subscribed on its own or is part of a Team Plan, then the transfer will fail.
  2. A GMass account must exist for the account you wish to transfer the subscription TO. That means the Gmail account must exist, and it must already be connected to GMass for the GMass account to exist. If a GMass account doesn’t exist, create it first.
  3. It’s okay if the account that currently has the subscription does not exist. Only the account that you wish to have the subscription must exist as a Google account for a transfer to work.
  4. Subscription transfers work for Stripe and PayPal-based subscriptions.
  5. Once a subscription has been transferred away from a particular Gmail or G Suite account, it cannot be transferred back to that same account.
  6. A single subscription can only be transferred a maximum of five (5) times.

  1. Hello there,

In your above explanation you don’t show where you put the actual email that you want to change your account to.

Is it on the subject field? In the body of the email? The image above is confusing.

    Looking forward to your reply.
    Thanks

      1. Hi, I followed your instructions for transferring my gmass subscription from one account to another and it doesn’t work, unless it transferred it by itself because it did do some configuration and I see gmass send button on both my accounts. i hope gmass doesn’t charge both my accounts.
Anyway, your transferring instructions are bit confusing and further more they dont work as suggested.

        Thanks

        1. Hi Chris,

Please note that the GMass button will show on any Gmail account logged in on the PC you have the GMass extension on. We’re not seeing a subscription under the email address you’ve inputted to leave this comment. If you need further clarification, please contact our support team (gmass.co/g/support)

    1. I need to be able to transition boss’s account to a team one to be able to send the Gmass for our company, how do I go about doing that?

  2. I want to transfer my account to my assistant. When I try that, I get this:

Your GMass request failed. Error details: Error – Your subscription could NOT be transferred from (me)@(company).com to (assistant)@(company).com. Either the accounts aren’t of the same type, one of the GMass accounts doesn’t exist, or (me)@(company).com isn’t subscribed, or (assistant)@(company).com isn’t a free account.

    Please advise

    1. We can’t transfer a subscription from a Gmail account to a G Suite account. You’ll have to cancel the Gmail subscription and subscribe the G Suite account. Then contact our support team ([email protected]) – they will issue a refund for the duplicate charge.

      1. hi i added a subscription to a nonexistent email i can not transfer the sub due to this issue

        Please help

    1. Hi,

You can actually do that from the new email [email protected]

Since you don’t have access to the account that has the subscription because of the typo, log into the account that you wish to transfer the subscription to, then you need to specify the account that already has the subscription. Set the Subject to “from:[email protected]” (without the quotes) which is the email address with the typo. Add the address [email protected] into the TO field and click on the GMass button.

  3. Hi,I want to be able to store a Google spreadsheet in a Gmail folder so that it can be accessed and updated from within Gmail- rather than having to come out of Gmail and go into Google docs. I’d be grateful for any tips on how to do this.Thank you.

  4. Hi, so I purchased 5 different subscriptions for emails on my company’s GSuite account in a group deal, plus 1 other subscription in a stand alone purchase. But I think in all that that some of them may have been mis-assigned. Is there an easy way that I can check to see which accounts on my domain have active, paid, GMass subscriptions?

    Thanks!

  5. So when I attempt to transfer my account that has gotten blocked from poor preparation of email campaigns, I get an error message that [email protected] is not a valid address. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    1. Hi Hayden,

Make sure you’re clicking the red GMass button instead of the send button.

    1. Hi Ramsingh,

You can only transfer the subscription for GMass. Since everything (emails, sents and reports) resides in your email accounts, you would need to manually forward these over.

    1. Hi Michelle,

If you’re receiving a bounced email error, then you must have clicked the Gmail send button instead of the red GMass button.

If you’re running into further issues, Please contact our support team through http://gmass.co/g/support so we may address your concern directly in private.

  6. A single subscription can only be transferred a maximum of five (5) times.

This limit is per month or for lifetime period?

    1. Cancelations are self-service.

  7. How long after I transfer a subscription from one gmail account to another gmail account can I use the features on the new account?

    1. Hi Yusuf,

Transfers are usually instant. In rare occasions, it may take a few minutes to sync which can be alleviated by refreshing your Gmail tab.

  8. I’m also getting an error. I signed up with the alias I always use, but I assume I need my “real” email address. This is my error: Uh oh, something went wrong. Here is the detailed error: We couldn’t find a subscription for [email protected]

    1. Hi Roxanne,

  9. So is this ONLY the subscription? If you want to transfer over to another account, along with an attached google sheet for new and followup emails, there’s no way to transfer or copy over campaigns, “do not auto-followup” and some provision for an attached sheet??

    1. Hi Bharat,

Please make sure to click the GMass button. When you click the GMass button, it’ll send a command to GMass but when you click the regular send button, it sends an email to a non-existent address.

  10. my gmail account is showing ‘You have reached a limit for sending mail”.. i have subscribed to a plan for gmass.
Is there a daily limit to send mail via gmass and if so what is it?

    1. Hi Jessie,

Our subscriptions do not have usage limits. Although Gmail accounts are officially limited to 500 emails per day, we have noticed over time that there are other factors that affect the send limits for an account. Age is a huge factor in this, as Google limit accounts to lower sending capacity until the account establishes its credibility. This is a measure to prevent scammers and spammers from opening accounts and sending at full capacity.

There’s some more information about these limits and factors here: https://www.gmass.co/blog/how-many-emails-can-you-really-send-with-gmass-and-gmail/

    1. Hi Mohammad,

    1. Hi Jagdish,

You would need to first go into the account where you transferring your subscription to and connect it to GMass. To do this, log into that account and click any of the red GMass buttons. This will prompt you to connect the new account to GMass. After doing this, you can then proceed to transfer your subscrption.

    Error:

    1. Uh oh, something went wrong. Here is the detailed error: General Exception Error – Your subscription could NOT be transferred from [email protected] to [email protected]. [email protected] is already subscribed.

    2. Uh oh, something went wrong. Here is the detailed error: General Exception You don’t have permission to transfer the subscription away from [email protected] because [email protected] is still an active Gmail account. The subscription can be transferred but it has to be INITIATED by [email protected], so you have to be logged in as [email protected]. You can also just subscribe [email protected].

    1. Hi Joy,

You can contact our support team through the email address found in the article (gmass.co/g/support). With regard to the issue you’re encountering:

For the first error: this is because your origin account and the destination accounts are the same so you’re essentially transferring TO and FROM the same email address.
For the second error: you would need to process the transfer while logged into your joydebkundu.com email account.

    1. Hi Edwin,

Please contact our support team (gmass.co/g/support) so that we can assist you in transferring your subscription to the other email account.

  20. How long should it take to get a response from support? I sent a request on Thursday the 16th. 9 hours later I got an automated response that a ticket was set. No other response on Friday. Its Monday morning.

    1. Hi Randy,

We have received your ticket however, we have very limited coverage on weekends. We are currently looking into your concern and you should be receiving a response shortly.

  21. So I have two emails I use GMASS for. My PERSONAL and my WORK. For my WORK they got a TEAM PLAN. To get access to the TEAM PLAN, I am going to draft an email in my WORK to put [email protected] in the To:. Then I am going to put the email of the team leader to get access to their GMASS account correct? This will change my WORK email but not do anything for my PERSONAL correct?

      1. I reached out to our team lead to make sure that my email was added. This morning my work email did not have access to GMASS. I am unable to email GMass you my work email to transfer into the team account.

        1. GMass is back up, but I am not sure what to email to get it working. Can someone please email me directly the instructions on how to switch my work email from my personal GMass to my work subscription.

        2. Hi Ben,

Upon checking, your subscription is currently subscribed to an individual plan. Since your subscription is still an active individual plan, it cannot be added to a team plan.

You would first need to cancel your individual plan (gmass.co/g/cancel) and then once it is canceled, you can then have your team plan’s administrator to add you to the team plan (https://www.gmass.co/blog/team-plans-how-to-manage/)

          1. I was told that my work email was already added to the Team Plan. I will cancel my personal plan, and then you will give my work email and personal email access to the team plan?

          2. Hi Ben,

They may have tried to add you to the team plan, but since your account still has the individual subscription active, that process cannot go through. You would need to cancel your individual subscription first then have your Team Leader process the command to add you to the team plan again.

  22. Hello, This is my issue. I just found the transfer option. However I already subscribed to a new account on the same day. I will like to cancel the sub on the old account as I did not use it. I did not know i was login to my personal gmail account. i am keying my old account. I can provide my new account as requested

    Thanks

    1. Hi Joel,

As requested, your subscription to GMass has been canceled. You should receive a separate confirmation email of the cancellation shortly, if not already.

  23. My co-worker transferred her gmass account to me, I received the email account saying the transfer was successful, but it does not seem to be on my account. I tried to do a mail merge and it asked me to upgrade to a premium account. How do I make sure it was transferred and on my account?

  24. It looks like you delivered Gmass to the wrong account. I wanted to go to [email protected] which has G Suite and instead you delivered it to my old and free gmail account.

    Please fix it.

  25. This post and its support comments is terribly confusing. I’ve tried every variations posted here with no success. Could someone contact me please:

    1. Hi Jay,

Upon checking, the reason you were receiving errors was because you were initiating the transfer from the destination email account. However, GMass detected that the origin account (the one with the subscription active on) is still active which is why it prompted you to log into your @gmail.com account to process the transfer.

No worries though as we’ve gone ahead and processed the transfer for you. Please reload your Gmail tab for the changes to take effect.

    1. Hi Paul,

We’ve issued the refund for your non-Gmail account subscription which you’ve canceled. Please note it may take 5-10 days for the refund to reflect in your bank statements.

    1. Hi Giuseppe,

Upon checking, you have already canceled your subscription. You should have received a confirmation email of the cancellation that should have come directly from Paypal.

  26. Hi,

I just did a Transfer from my digitalmarkeitngknowledge.com domain to roydigital.in but, nothing happened.

Though it mentioned success, but it is not working as you mentioned. Kindly help me with that.

    1. Hi Roy,

Once you transferred, please make sure to reload your Gmail tab while logged into the destination email account for the changes to take effect.

  27. Uh oh, something went wrong. Here is the detailed error: General Exception This account is a free account, so there is no subscription to cancel.

I followed the blog to cancel but unable to remove gmass button from compose. How to remove it?

I send an email to [email protected] but through an error as above. I asked from support team but send me an email to check the proper guidelines as mention in block. I did actually but unable to remove that. Help me please.

  28. I’m trying to send mass emails through my boss’s email. I only have access to send emails from his account (outbox), but I’m getting errors on gmass.

    1. Hi Steve,

Looks like you’ve inadvertently used [email protected] instead of [email protected]. This is why when you clicked the GMass button, GMass sent an email instead of the internal command to transfer the subscription.

Upon checking though, it looks like one of my colleagues have responded to your email to our support email and that you were successful in transferring your subscription to the new address.

  30. i was debited yesterday for gmass and my Gmail account has been disabled, i tried transferring it yesterday and it seems like it worked because I go the regular message stating important things i should know about gmass and the gmass even ran the sending test but later when i tried using the gmass , i was prompt that i didn’t have ab active subscription and I have just been debited yesterday

  31. Hi I recently transferred subscription of gmass from old email ID to new one I was trying. The mail ID was changed internally in google suite, so its not a new mail ID itself. But After trying the new name I realized, it probably wasnt a good name as the name was getting blocked more. So I changed email name to a new one to try that. In same mailbox. But Its saying not allowing more than 5 times. Id Id known that I would have been more judicious. Is there a way I can change this last time. The email Im adding below is where the subscription is. Its asking tocancel and resubscribe, but that will make me lose 3 month of subscription

  32. Only transferred 5 times? On a monthly subscription that’s fine but what about on a yearly subscription?

    Thank you.

  33. How can I transfer my GMass account from an already deleted gmail account?

This will also be an issue if I need to cancel my subscription.

  34. Tis is extremely annoying. There were no warnings about subscribing from a different email. Now I have to read all of this and waste time. I need a refund or a transfer.

Please contact our support team directly so that we can assist you with transferring your subscription by going to gmass.co/g/support

  35. Hi,

I did not use a stripe or paypal for payment and used my credit card. By mistake my other company’s account got subscribed instead of the one we wanted.

    How can we fix it?

    Regards,
    Harsha

    1. Hi Harsha,

Please contact our support team (gmass.co/g/support) so we can process the transfer for you or you may follow the steps outline in the article above to transfer your subscription to the correct account.

  36. I put in the wrong email to buy the monthly and I have followed your instructions to transfer my subscription but it does not work. Can you help me?

    1. Hi Sherry,

If you’re receiving an error message when trying to transfer, more than likely the error is due to the correct email address where you want to transfer hasn’t been connected to GMass yet. To fix this, go to http://www.gmass.co/oauth/login and log into the destination address (where you want to transfer to) to connect it to GMass. After doing this, you can then try to process the transfer again and it should push through. If you’re still having issues, you may contact support (gmass.co/g/support) so that the support team can process the transfer for you.
